IMAGE RESIZER / A PRACTICAL GUIDE
Resize a photo to an exact width and height
Understand fit, crop and stretch so the result has the dimensions and composition you expect.
Set the final canvas
Enter a width and height in pixels or choose one of the common social image sizes. Presets are convenient starting points; the platform’s current upload screen is the final check for placement and cropping.
Choose what happens to the edges
Fit preserves the entire image and adds background space when its proportions differ. Crop fills the canvas and trims the edges around the centre. Stretch fills the dimensions without cropping but can distort the subject.
Review the composition
Check that important faces, text and logos are still visible. Enlarging an image adds pixels but cannot restore missing detail. Choose PNG or WebP for transparency, or JPEG with a background colour.
An example to work from
A 1600 × 900 photo resized to a 1080 × 1080 square: Fit keeps the full photo with space above and below. Crop fills the square by trimming the sides. Stretch changes the proportions.
