Review namespaces, required locations, duplicate URLs, dates, priorities and change frequencies. Extension schemas are identified but not validated.
This tool supports uncompressed XML up to 1 MB and 5,000 entries. The sitemap protocol allows larger files; this is our tool’s processing limit.
Checks follow the core Sitemaps protocol ↗ and Google’s guidance ↗. This is not full XSD validation or a guarantee of indexing. Google ignores priority and changefreq; if supplied, we check their protocol values. Pasted XML stays in your tab. DTDs and custom entities are rejected.

COMMON QUESTIONS
This is an XML sitemap validator. It checks XML well-formedness and the core sitemap structure for urlset and sitemapindex documents. It is not a general XML editor or a validator for arbitrary XML schemas, XSD files, RSS feeds, or SVG documents.
Yes. The tool supports both URL sitemaps and sitemap indexes, including namespace-prefixed XML. It checks the entries in the submitted file without fetching child sitemaps or visiting the listed pages.
Checks include malformed XML, namespace and structure problems, missing or invalid locations, normalized duplicate URLs, fragments, invalid dates, and invalid priority or changefreq values. Host and directory differences are reported for review.
This tool accepts uncompressed XML up to 1,000,000 UTF-8 bytes and 5,000 entries, with additional limits on XML depth and element count. Explicit .gz file URLs are not supported. DTD and custom entity declarations are rejected. These are tool limits, not the sitemap protocol’s maximums.
No. This checker reviews the submitted file, not the indexing status, HTTP response, canonical URL, or content of every listed page. Correct sitemap syntax can help you prepare a file for submission, but search engines decide which URLs to crawl and index.
